CN Tower Policy
Daily/ Regular CN Tower Lighting
- Every night starting at sunset, the CN Tower is lit up with pre-programmed lighting for 57 minutes each hour.
- Precisely at the top of each hour, for 3 minutes, there is a short light-show or “effect”.
- The CN Tower will remain lit until 1am each night.
- The on-going, standard lighting program honours Canada’s colours, red and white.
Holiday CN Tower Lighting
- The CN Tower will honour “national holidays, seasons” and “certain major city and national events” by means of either:
- A light-show at the top of every hour to honour the occasion or,
- A dedicated colour theme for the standard lighting colours.
- Presently only the CN Tower and city staff will determine which events and holidays are observed.
Commercial Lighting
- It has been made very clear that lighting for commercial purposes or for personal occasions will not be permitted. You may not use the CN Tower as an advertisement or billboard.
Fatal Light Awareness Program (FLAP)
- The CN Tower has not released specifically what it will do during the spring and fall bird migration, but it has strongly stated that it will continue its longstanding participation in the voluntary FLAP in which buildings turn down unnecessary exterior lighting to lessen bird mortalities.
