CN Tower “Grand Opening”
June 30th, 2007
The Grand Opening on June 28th was huge. There was live entertainment, media, freebies, mayors and CEOs, and a bright new look for the CN Tower.
At around 10pm, while onlookers crowded the base of the tower (Roundhouse Park), the execs started their speeches. (I admit for such an important ceremony, these long and dignified speeches were acceptable.) “Every postcard, every book, every picture of Toronto will change,” said Jack Robinson, COO for the tower.

The CN Tower light show showed off the features of the new LED system. And remember, this is a $2.5 million dollar system we’re talking about here. The unveiling consisted of a ten minute light show set to music; the radio-broadcasted piece was decently appeasing for all audiences. I think those skeptics, who might have seen random tests in the month leading up to the unveiling, were likely quite impressed by what the tower has to offer, like me. In my opinion, the CN Tower lighting sytstem really is a fantastic addition to Toronto’s skyline. Be prepared to see the new postcards.. the new lit up skyline will start to appear in Hollywood movies.
Here is the full CN Tower lighting ceremony! Great quality and the original musical score is included:
Look forward to the best CN Tower pictures coming up! (With a few of my own snuck in.)
